Introducing: Books from the Margin
Books from the Margin is an online book club organised and run by me, Wendy Pratt, through my substack page. It is run alongside my blog/newsletter Notes from the Margin. The book club follows on, loosely, the themes of noticing, belonging, identity and nature etc explored in my newsletter, and features books that explore what it is to belong in the world.
How does Books from the Margin work?
The bookclub is online, it’s mostly free with ‘pay what you can’ for zoom events. The premise is very simple, just bringing people together to chat books in what I hope is an accessible format.
If you’re already signed up to Notes from the Margin, you don’t need to do anything else. You’ll automatically receive information and links for the book club to your inbox.
If you’re not signed up, you can do so here: Subscribe
Each month there will be a recommended book, the chance to ask questions to the author of that book, an online, one hour zoom chat and, where possible, a reader event where you can come and hear the author of the book talk about their own work.
When Does it Start?
Books from the Margin begins in April 2023. I am utterly delighted that Liz Berry’s The Home Child is our first book. I’ll be posting further details over the next few weeks.

I can’t wait to chat books with you in a friendly, pressure free, supportive and interesting space. I hope you’ll join me for this exciting new project, and if you have any book suggestions or comments, let me know!
